The project “REFOWAS – Ways to reduce food waste” deals with the topic of avoidable food waste in Germany. The aim of the project is to analyse the agricultural and food sector along its value chains with regard to the generation of food waste, in particular, the proportion of avoidable waste, and to identify and test strategies and starting points for measures to reduce waste.
For this purpose, a holistic analysis of the overall system is carried out on the one hand, and on the other hand, various areas are examined in more detail on the basis of case studies (fruit/vegetables, bakery products, school catering).
